“Man in the middle” is an attack on a communication link by an intermediary entity. This attack is usually not noticed. The installation is a stage. A situation in which the seeker assumes the role of a monitor.
Through the headphones on the table, the visitor can listen in on the different levels of surveillance. On the one hand, he hears the supervised, but also the absent supervisor at his work. He hears the sounds that people inevitably make in their everyday lives, the information they exchange, the sounds of the machines with which surveillance takes place.
