Bird migration

2015, Installation

Worringer Square, Düsseldorf

Flying monuments, 1 prize

Loudspeakers hidden in the birdhouses let us hear sounds of various means of transport with which one can leave places and reach others, compositionally linked with the signal songs of migratory birds. The installation is about a moment of pause in a place that is a passage.

Every day strangers meet each other here, whose origin and further path remains unknown. As a disturbing echo, the installation juxtaposes the carefree migration of birds across borders with the wanderings of the countless, desperate people who race against European borders every day and at every hour.
