Peter Simon<\/strong> is an internationally working sound artist<\/strong>, field recordist<\/strong> and researcher in the field of sound art<\/strong>.
He studied at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM<\/strong>), where he completed his master’s degree with a focus on sound art and installation<\/strong>. He previously studied physics<\/strong> at the Ruhr University in Bochum<\/strong> – a combination of science and art that still shapes his acoustic practice today.<\/p>

Research and artistic practice<\/h3>

His work focuses on sound ecology<\/strong>, psychoacoustics<\/strong> and bioacoustics<\/strong>.
The focus is on research into sound as an information carrier<\/strong> – and the question of how acoustic communication influences the relationship between the individual, the environment and society.<\/p>

Since the 1990s, Peter Simon has been continuously developing his own sound compositions<\/strong> and sound installations<\/strong>, which are located between musique concr\u00e8te<\/strong>, electronic sound research and experimental audio art. His works combine aesthetic experience<\/strong>, scientific observation<\/strong> and ecological perspectives<\/strong>.<\/p>

Collaborations and performances<\/h3>

Peter Simon has been working with Freya Hattenberger<\/strong> as a performance duo since 2008.
Together they explore different living environments, forms of communication and resonance spaces using sound art<\/strong> and performance art<\/strong>.<\/p>

Sound installations and exhibitions<\/h3>

His sculptural sound and video installations<\/strong>, multi-channel compositions<\/strong> and sound performances<\/strong> have been shown at numerous international festivals<\/strong>, museums<\/strong> and galleries<\/strong>.
From 2010 to 2015, he curated the sound art program “Lautsprecher”<\/strong> at Museum Ostwall Dortmund<\/strong>, which was dedicated to the presentation and mediation of contemporary sound art.<\/p>

He also produces radio plays<\/strong>, acoustic essays<\/strong> and radiophonic sound features<\/strong> for renowned broadcasters such as WDR<\/strong>, BR<\/strong>, NDR<\/strong>, Deutschlandradio Kultur<\/strong> and medienwerk nrw<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
